Best Practice Spotlight: Prioritizing Equity in EV Program Design
Planning for scale and equity is a key focus for CLEAResult’s energy transition experts, and their current work funded by the California Energy Commission (CEC) is a prime example. The team received a $2 million Reliable, Equitable, and Accessible Charging for multifamily Housing (REACH) grant from the CEC in the Fall of 2022 with the goal of deploying at least 100 Level 2 EV charging ports to serve 300 multifamily households in the state.
CLEAResult is engaging directly with community partners at affordable housing properties to better understand the needs of their residents. This framework allows CLEAResult’s team to listen and learn from community feedback to ensure that EV charging access is being implemented based on the needs of the people who live there. The project expects that 70 percent of the housing units receiving access to these charging ports will be affordable housing.
