In New York City and two surrounding counties, electric vehicle owners now have a new way to make some cash. On Wednesday, utilities Con Edison and Orange & Rockland announced they have retooled their marquee rewards program for “smart” EV charging – and this time, it’s allowing the EVs themselves to take a leading role.

In 2021, Mike Pineault decided he wanted to dump his oil-fired boiler and replace it with a carbon-cutting heat pump. Because heat pumps come in a wide variety of types, Pineault, an attorney living in eastern Massachusetts, did a ton of research trying to understand the best kind of system for his home.
Satisfaction with the cost and time of charging an electric vehicle at home has declined over the past year, according to a new study by J.D. Power. A total of 83 percent of electric vehicle owners use Level 2 portable or permanently mounted home charging stations, their satisfaction with the cost of charging declined from last year’s 2022 study by more than 30 points, on a 1,000-point scale, in each segment, the report found.
President Joe Biden’s administration is making $450 million available for solar farms and other clean energy projects at the site of current or former coal mines, part of his efforts to combat climate change. As many as five projects nationwide will be funded through the 2021 infrastructure law, with at least two projects set aside for solar farms, the White House said Tuesday.
Last year, municipal utility Seattle City Light launched a project to install approximately 30 public, fast electric vehicle chargers across Seattle. While many cities are building EV charging stations to support vehicle electrification and city climate goals, City Light’s pilot project was unique in how it chose its EV charger locations.
