Nathan Shannon
President & CEO
Nathan is SECC's President & CEO and leads the organization's research, membership and policy initiatives. He came on as SECC's Deputy Director in early 2015, and in this role, he grew membership almost 40% to over 150 members. Along with his work on the Research and Policy committees, Nathan leads member recruitment and engagement and routinely presents SECC 's research at major industry conferences and policy workshops around the country. He previously served as Director of Operations and Major Gifts Officer at Athens Land Trust where he had a focus on policy and sustainability through his work with land conservation and carbon credits. He also gained extensive knowledge in the realm of non-profit development and capacity building. Nathan has a Bachelors in Economics from the University of Georgia and a background in financial management.

Jason McGrade
Deputy Director
Jason McGrade, as Deputy Director of SECC plays a key role in producing SECC's research reports and consumer education materials. Prior to joining SECC, Jason served most recently as a Senior Program Manager for Touchstone Energy® Cooperatives. In this role, he drove strategic planning efforts, produced events and webinars, as well as leading market research and IT initiatives. He considers himself a lifelong learner and is always on the lookout for delicious local specialties when traveling.

Jonathan Field
Communications Director
Jonathan joined the Smart Energy Consumer Collaborative in December 2016 as the Communications Specialist and then increased his role to Communications Manager at the beginning of 2019 and Communications Director in 2021. As a member of the SECC team, Jonathan works on developing original and insightful content across various channels to extend the reach of SECC’s research and educational programs. He previously served as the Managing Editor for a B2B media company focusing on corporate health care and employee benefits issues. A native of Atlanta, he received his Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from Georgia State University.

DeMika Thomas-Hill
Operations Manager
DeMika joined the Smart Energy Consumer Collaborative in November of 2011 as the Administrative Coordinator and then increased her role to Office Manager at the beginning of 2018 and Operations Manager in 2021. As a member of the SECC team, she oversees and manages SECC’s operations, finances, member relations, charting SECC meetings, and coordinating SECC events. Prior to joining SECC, she was the Event Coordinator/Administrative Assistant at Operation Step-up Inc., where she worked to create college scholarships for students in need. She also created a program in Cincinnati, Ohio where she tutored inner-city students in Mathematics. DeMika received her degree from Miami University of Ohio in Social Science.
